Aquatic Exercise Can Help Those With Fibromyalgia

By Dr. Steven Yen

Fibromyagia is a draining disease that can affect millions of Northern Americans. Research has explored a lot of different chances but fibromyalgia remains a poorly accepted disorder with no known single cause.

Fibromyalgia can be more considered as a global illness with likely many various factors coming together to make the painful symptoms. Just chasing each symptom with a different pilling in hope of nominal side-effects is not a good long term option. Considering nutritional or weight gain aspects in fibromyalgia is important and is an often overlooked aspect to our health. Most of us eat far too much food and of the incorrect type. Sugar intake is very unrestrained as is a diet based on cheeseburgers and hotdogs. Kale, brussel sprouts, and chard appear to be alien to the American dinner table experience.

Why are antioxidants important? Anti-oxidants help to deal with oxidative stress, which comes from breaking down food and general living. The antioxidants protect cell walls from damage. Vitamins like C and E are thought to be antioxidants and have been demonstrated to be vital to an overall sensible diet. Illness risk for heart disease and cataracts can be affected by low levels of vitamins C and E in the diet.

Analysts have also looked at anti oxidising compounds in the blood of patients with fibromyalgia. The scientists found that they're noticeably exhausted when put next to normal subjects. Whether that is thanks to larger metabolic activity and more oxidative stress, or poor nutrient intake (poor diet), or both, isn't known.

But since it is now known that there are lowered levels of these antioxidants, we will do something about it. Ideally, eating heaps of raw fruit and veg are your greatest sources for antioxidants. Most of us do not eat enough servings of these every day so it is also vital to supplement with minerals and vitamins. If you have fibromyalgia, you might need to both supplement with vitamins, and change your diet to more of a plant-based approach. The vegan sort of diet has been shown to reduce fibromyalgia symptoms in a scientific study.

Besides aerobic exercise and weight-training, a healthy plant-based diet with reinforcement looks to be an extra important factor, to an overall integrated approach to fibromyalgia. Your chiropractor can help lead you to sound nutritional and exercise choices. By integrating exercise and correct nourishment with structural chiropractic, you are taking a very natural and complete approach to restoring your health.
