One of the best ways to celebrate the warm weather is to put water in the backyard pool and let the children have fun swimming around in it. Many of the children might get tired of simply swimming around in circles and want to have a little more fun. Fortunately, there is ample opportunity to make the day in the backyard more of an event with a lot of things to do. There are a number of pool party games for kids that they can use to occupy their time and have a whole lot of fun. Here are six games they can play while a parent relaxes in the sun.
One activity that has been for seemingly forever is called "Marco Polo". This is when one of the players has to wear some type of blindfold, unless they can be trusted to keep their eyes totally closed, and calls out the name "Marco" as they make their way around the water. Other players are suppose to respond by saying "Polo". This allows the blind folded person to determine where the other players are. When they end up touching one of the other children, then that child has to put on the blind fold and start looking for the others.
A parent can start a long jump contest. Here the children will usually run along a diving board and jump over a floating device. The device keeps on being placed further away until only one can make the jump. That person who jumps the furthest wins the game.
Some people like to play "Crossing the River". This works by placing two ropes on opposite sides of the pool. Children should climb onto a floating device that is not very stable. They then try to pull themselves to the other side without falling off the floating object.
"Treasure Hunt" tests one's ability to hold their breath while looking for objects under the water. Someone throws items that will sink to the bottom. Each child takes a breath and dives in to get as many of the items as they can. The one who retrieves the most items wins the game.
If one has a deck surrounding the pool, then they can play "Tug O'War". Two teams get on either side of the pull. The team that pulls the other team into the water is the winner.
A fun game is called "Noodle Joust". Two children get on inflatable rafts and begin to attack each other with Nerf noodles. The object is to knock each other off of the raft. The first one in the water loses. The winner then takes on the next challenger.
Children can have a lot of fun when playing pool party games for kids. There are many activities that they can choose from to fill up their day. Hours of fun can be had in the safety of the backyard.
